Netball Hutt Valley are proud to provide opportunities for our community who wish to get involved in a social or one-off capacity. ​​​​​​​

​​​​​​​Twilight Netball

Twilight netball is delivered over a 6-week period for new & experienced players. There are two leagues within the year (term 1 & term 4 - teams register seperately for each league)

  • Term 1 dates Monday 17th February - 24th March 2025. Reserve date Monday 31st April.  
  • Term 1 registration cut off: Friday 7th February 2025
  • Grades available
  1. Year 5 & 6 
  2. Year 7 & 8 (social and competitive)
  3. Year 9 & 10 Female
  4. Year 11 to 13 Female
  5. Female (social and competitive)
  6. Mixed (social and competitive)
  7. Mixed Youth 
  • Mixed ratios
  1. Year 5&6 unlimited males (6-aside format)
  2. Year 7&8, Mixed Youth & Adult up to three males on the court (1x GA or GA, 1X WA, C or WD, 1X GD or GK).

Start Times

  1. 4pm Year 5 to 8 
  2. 6pm Youth, Female and Mixed grades

Game Length

  1. All games are 4x 10 minutes and run to the centralised buzzer.

Costs associated

  • Junior (Year 5 to 8) $100
  • Youth/Senior (Year 9+) $230
  • Umpire (if required) $125
  • Bibs/ball: $30 for the season - to be returned after each game. 

Teams must supply

  • Own bibs (if not borrowing from NHV)
  • Ball (if not borrowing from NHV) 
  • Scorer
  • Umpire (unless paid for at time of registration)
  • First aid kit (including plasters) 

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I wear jewellery?
  1. No. All earrings/rings/necklaces/anklets are to be removed.
  2. Taonga or medic alerts may be worn but must be tapped to the body (including any strings). 
  • Can I have long nails?
  1. No. Nails must be cut short and smooth.
  2. Gloves are not allowed. 
  • What happens if it rains?
  1. A call will be made at 2pm if the weather may impact play.
  2. We will post on our Facebook page and email team coordinators. No post/email means games are going ahead as scheduled.
  3. We have one reserve date scheduled - games postponed will be scheduled to then. 
  4. There are no refunds for cancellation dates
  • What if we can no longer participate?
  1. Late withdrawals or teams who withdraw after the cut-off date/ once the draw has been completed will not receive a refund. 
  • What happens if our team cannot provide an umpire on the day?
  1. A player from your team must leave the court and take to umpiring. 
  2. They can purchase a whistle for $10 from the office.
  3. Games shall not start unless both umpires are accounted for. 


WALKING NETBALL 

Walking Netball

Do you love netball but not the high impact nature of the game?  Come out of 'Netball retirement', build fitness, recover from injury, or take it easy pre/post baby. Walking netball is for all adults and provides a suprising amount of excercise and satisfaction with low impact/injury risk. 

Walking netball provides people an opportunity to engage in netball in a low impact environment, with no running or jumping. There is a great social atmosphere surrounding walking netball. 

Modified rules:

  • No running
  • No jumping
  • One foot must be grounded at all times
  • Players may take one step
  • Players have 4 sec to release the ball once in their possession
  • Normal contact and obstruction rules apply.
  • No uniforms are required.  We make up teams on the night and provide bibs/ball and umpire.  Bring your friends or make new ones on the night.

TOURNAMENTS

Netball Hutt Valley provide a range of tournaments for local & regional teams to come together & battle it out on the courts. This tournament provides opportunities for competitive & social teams to participate.

  • Date: Saturday 12th April 2025
  • Registrations cut-off Friday 28th March 2025
  • Some grades may close early if they reach capacity.

  1. Competitive A Grade (Premier teams & Senior A Secondary Schools)
  2. Competitive B Grade (Premier reserve)
  3. Senior C Grade (Senior/Reserve Grades)
  4. Youth Grade (Year 9 & 10) 
  5. Youth Grade (Year 11 to 13) 
  • Costs
  1. Indoor teams (Competitive A & B grade): $100
  2. Outdoor teams (Senior C & Youth grades): $50
  • Start times
  1. This will be dependent on final team entries. 
  2. It is anticipated that games will start from 9am. 
  • Game Length
  1. All games are 2x 10 minutes and run to the centralised buzzer.
  2. Round robin/ Final fixtures will be determined based on final team entries.

  3. Scorer (My Netball Manager app)
  4. Umpire (relevant ability to grade) 
  5. First aid kit (including plasters), limited ice available from NHV.
