2025 Programmes

In 2025 we will endeavour to provide opportunities that suit each level & ability of coaches, players & umpires. There are a range of opportunities for you to engage in from the Netball Smart Programme to fundamental netball skills, & technical/tactical aspects for the deilvery of netball.

Our core coaching framework will embrace:

  • FutureFERNS Year 1 to 4: Star helpers new and returning to the Hutt Valley programme.
  • FUNdamental coaches: FUTUREFerns year 5 to 8, secondary school, and senior club coaches.
  • Emerging coaches: Junior/ Senior A, Premier, Representative and aspiring coaches.
  • Dynamic coaches: Premier, representative and pre-performance coaching qualification coaches.

Please note: the Emerging coaches programme will also assist you to work towards gaining your Community Coach level 1 or 2 Award if you wish to do so. *pre-requisites may apply to some of these workshops. If you are unsure which modules you have completed please email admin@netballhuttvalley.co.nz

FutureFERNS Year 1 to 4 Connects

This connect is designed to ensure all Star Helpers are on the same page before we take to the courts in term 1 and 4. Come along and undertsand the philosophy of FutureFERNS and how we go about delivering the programme in the Hutt Valley (slightly different to what you may read about online!). This connect is open to all new and returning star helpers to set you up for what will be an amazing six weeks of learning, growth and development of yourselves and your tamariki you are going to be creating experiences for.

FUNdamental Coach Connects

We aspire to have a group of like-minded coaches engaged in our connect programme in 2024. This programme has been designed to ensure our coaches are confident & competent in delivering the fundamental movement skills & attacking/defensive techniques to help grow our players capbility & enjoyment in the game. This programme is open to all new & returning coaches who are keen to grow their knowledge & understanding to support our players within the community. This programme will run pre & during the season to help coaches to continually stretch & grow their players. Recommended coaching areas: Year 5 to 8, secondary schools (juniors), and senior club teams.

Engagement in the connect programme will support your development in effectively delivering: movement skills, shooting technique, centre pass to circle edge, defence and through court play.

Emerging Coaches Connects

Our emerging coaches connects are open to all coaches (new & returning) who are keen to gain some new ideas, cement previous learnings & make connections with other like minded individuals within our community. We run our programmes as a cohort so you can work alongside others in the same position as yourself to grow your capability and confidence in coaching. Better coaches equals a quality experience for our players.

Our programme is delivered with the support from Netball Central Zone and Netball Wellington Centre accredited coach developers. This cohort of coaches will work towards gaining their Community Coach Award level 1 & 2 through in-person wānanga and online hui.
